It is easy to say that adults are important in scouting. That’s obvious. Without us, the boys couldn’t get to campouts. There’s way more though. Adult volunteers serve their troops as leaders, drivers, mentors, merit badge counselors, chaperons, guides, and emotional counselors. It doesn’t stop there. We train so that they can have high adventure activities, we give of our time so they can have quality programs. It goes on! Many adults take it a step further and become leaders of the district. We aren’t just parents; we, scout parents, are highly dedicated community leaders. And to think, we do it all in an hour per week.
